SHOWS

Carousel by One Trick Pony

Carousel is a provocative physical theatre/new circus show by two female acrobats.  A journey exploring the human condition: disease and dis-ease, intimacy and duplicity, gender and death.  Your guides on this journey are characters of the old world circus; slapstick irreverent clowns, hyper-masculine strongmen and beautifully bizarre carousel horses.

One Trick Pony removes the fourth wall and invites the audience backstage with stripped-to-naked costume changes and candid conversation.  Carousel will leave the audience titillated, and aghast with hearts melting in their hands.

Carousel was directed by Anni Davey (Circus OZ, Fruit Fly Circus) and costumes were created by Amanda Fairbanks and Clockwork Butterfly.

Til by One Trick Pony

Til is a dark and dynamic physical performance work exploring the trajectory from birth to death and rites of passage we pass through along the way. French ethnographer Arnold Van Gennep innovate the term ‘rites of passage’ to describe the process of leaving one group to enter another.

Til creates striking visual processions of the performers own rites of passage; including first sexual experience, first bleed, childbirth, premature menopause and facing own’s own mortality.

Performed with Luke to a beautifully unnerving live score by Teresa Blake (Circus OZ, Retro Futurismus) , with wearable art created by Sarah Seahorse (award winning costume designer) and dramaturgy by Yumi Umiumare (ButohOut, Unwoman. DasSHOKU) and Anni Davey (Retro Futurismus, Club Swing), Til is a devastatingly raw, beautiful and life affirming work.

Til was developed and premiered at the ‘Oratory’ at the Abbotsford Convent with financial assistance from Creative Victoria, City of Yarra and the Women’s Circus.
